The 2017 Stuffed Animal Sleepover

Ever wonder what your stuffed animals and toys would do if they could be in the circus? Click on the image above to find out!! A big congratulations to all who participated in the 2017 themed "Reading is Big Fun" Children's Summer Reading Program.

The Huntington Beach Public Library's annual Stuffed Animal Sleepover happens every August and follows the theme of each year's Summer Reading Program. It ends in the finale video showing the toys' antics, presented at the last Saturday summer storytime.

Coming to you in 2018: Reading Takes You Everywhere! Our stuffed animal friends will be traveling around the library, the city, the U.S.A., and the world! Some may even make it into outer space! Dates and costs for the Annual Stuffed Animal Sleepover will be announced in May 2018.

To learn more about this and other exciting library events, follow us on social media! You can connect with us through Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to stay up-to-date on all of the excitement.

We couldn't do it without YOU.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler. The goal is to have read 1,000 books before your precious one starts kindergarten. If you read just 1 book a night, you will have read about 365 books in a year. If you bring your little one to one of our library storytimes, count those books too! You are well on your way!

And, when your child reaches a milestone, the Huntington Beach Public Library is here to help celebrate. We have rewards like stickers, pencils, and other small trinkets to celebrate every 100 books your child achieves.

Sign up for 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten by going to Beanstack. You can either keep track of your child's reading online OR use one of the library's printed reading logs, bring it in to the library, and have a library staff member log your reading for you. 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is for ages birth - 5; if your child is 6+ years old, you may register him/her for the Read 20 Minutes a Day program.
