The HBPL Teen Blog promotes teen literacy and creative writing through book, media, and game reviews, as well as essays and articles on teen life and pop culture topics relevant to teens. You may also find book lists, author interviews, book trailers, and reports from the Huntington Beach Public Library's various teen programs and other related events.
Content for this blog is created by teens, for teens, under the guidance of the Huntington Beach Public Library's Teen Services Librarian, Christany Edwards. Get to know our current teen contributors by checking out the Meet the Staff section below.
The HBPL Teen Blog Team is always recruiting new members! If you’re an Orange County teen in grades 7 – 12, and interested in earning volunteer service credit and gaining real-world writing experience that will look great on college applications while sharing your enthusiasm for teen literature, games, media, and pop culture, please email your volunteer application to the Teen Librarian at firstname.lastname@example.org. Make sure to note on your application that you want to write reviews! There is no training required for this volunteer opportunity.
Contributors earn one hour of service credit for each review or article accepted for publication on the blog. Articles & reviews are accepted on a first-in, first-published basis, and are also checked for content and quality before posting.
If you have already submitted a volunteer application, no need to turn it in twice! Let Christany know you are already registered so she can verify you are in our volunteer system.
