Feeling a " Little" Creative? Join the Tiny Art Contest this Summer!

Tiny Art Contest runs June 24th to August 5th, 2023.

Rules:

• Canvases must be 4"x4". If you would like a canvas provided, sign up for one of the Tiny Art Nights below or you may use your own paper, cardboard, etc. "canvas" as long as it measures 4"x4".
• Any art medium or supplies can be used, but it must fit within the 4"x4" canvas. We encourage you to use recycled materials. Do not use any edible or perishable materials. 
• Registration forms are required when the piece is turned in. Forms must be filled out with name, email or phone number, age category and name of piece.
  • Printed forms may be available at the Reference Desk.
  • You can also print your own by clicking on this link.
• Please write your name on the back of your piece.
• Canvases may be submitted between Sunday July 30th and Saturday August 5th to the Research and Information Desk at the Central Library or any branch library desk. Canvases must be submitted by 4:59pm on Saturday, August 5th to be considered. 
• Art will be judged within your age category
• Tiny Art will be on display at the Tiny Art Show at Central Library on August 10th, 2023. Winners will be announced that evening.
• Your piece can be picked up at the Tiny Art Show on August 10th. 

Age Categories:

• Littles: Ages 0-5
• Kids: Ages 6-12
• Teens: Ages 13-18
• Adults: Ages 19-64
• Seniors: Ages 65+

• Library Staff Choice

Tiny Art is art in miniature. Making tiny art requires planning ahead, as you have limited space to create your mini masterpiece. You also need to be aware of color theory as colors can easily clash in such a small space. You can use any art materials to create your canvas, but it must fit into a 4"x4" space.

 The canvas to the left was made using decopage as part of one of the 2021 Teen summer activities. Decopage is the art of decorating objects with colored paper. In this case, Teen Services staff painted the canvas and  applied a colored zentagle page with modpodge. This is only one way to decorate your tiny canvas. You can be as creative as you wish, as long as it fits within your canvas. Sealing your art with Modpodge or other art sealer is suggested.

Need a tiny canvas or some supplies to make your tiny art? Come to one of our Tiny Art events this summer. We have events for all ages at the Central, Oak View and Main Street Branches. Take your art home to display or improve it at the end of the event, or leave it at the library to be displayed at the Tiny Art Show. Registration is required for all events.
