We’re excited to announce that Libby by OverDrive is coming to Huntington Beach Public Library! Libby is a free app, available for Apple, Android and Windows devices. Libby makes it easy to borrow eBooks and eAudiobooks from your phone and tablet. This new digital resource will replace cloudLibrary on December 4, 2023.
To Use the Libby App, you will need to:
Starting December 4th, download the Libby app for Apple or Android devices.
Sign in with your Huntington Beach Public Library card and PIN.
Watch this video tutorial to get started with Libby and learn useful tips and tricks.
Pro tip: If you have library cards from other library systems that also use Libby, you can set up all of these library memberships within the app! Learn how.
If you currently use the cloudLibrary app, it is important to know that:
You will no longer be able to place holds in cloudLibrary as of November 20th.
You will not be able to check out any new items from cloudLibrary starting November 27th.
You will no longer be able to access and read your cloudLibrary checkouts after December 3rd.
Your existing holds and borrowed titles will not transfer from cloudLibrary. You will need to borrow the titles again in Libby.
Your cloudLibrary reading history and saved lists will not transfer. You will need to make note of this information if you’d like to keep it. To see your Saved list, go to My Books > Saved tab in the cloudLibrary App.
Not all of the titles previously held in cloudLibrary will immediately transfer over to Libby. If you would like to request a title for inclusion in our Libby library, please use this link to fill out a Collection Suggestion Form.
Libby makes finding your digital eBooks and audiobooks easy by organizing everything in one place. Libby also allows you to access content whenever, wherever, and however you want. On your phone or home computer, in your car, and on your Kindle eReader.
Libby has simple commands that allow you to adjust an ebook's font size, book layout, and lighting. You can add bookmarks, create notes, and define words. For avid readers, Libby lets you set smart tags and custom tags so you can keep track of books you've borrowed and sampled. You can also get notified when a new edition or title becomes available from a series you love.
In addition to Libby, library patrons can also access additional eBooks and eAudiobooks through the Palace Project and Hoopla.
